Description
With the 12 YO Sherry Oak Trilogy Whiskey, Macallan impressively proves that they set the bar for sherry-infused single malts. This malt, penned by master distiller Nick Savage, matured for twelve years in hand-picked oak barrels from Jerez, Spain. Previously, the wooden barrel contained fine Oloroso sherry, which resulted in the distillate being enriched with spicy impressions and fruity notes. So that the full-bodied aromas can settle in the fine drop, the whiskey is allowed to rest undisturbed in Macallan’s barrel cellars for twelve years.

Macallan 12 YO Sherry Oak Trilogy Whiskey – The Macallan Trilogy
With the Macallan Trilogy, the distillery illustrates the role the choice of barrels plays. In addition to the 12-year-old Sherry Oak, the trilogy also includes the Double Cask 12YO and the Triple Cask Matured 12YO. All three representatives of the series impressively show the effects the barrels have on the taste notes. While the Oloroso sherry cask gives the whiskey fruity and spicy notes, the composition of European and American sherry and bourbon oak casks in the Triple Cask shows that they can conjure up a lively and complex creation from the single malt. The Double Cask combines the classic Macallan with the sweet influences of European and American sherry oak barrels.
